What changed
Air-cargo information is often passed between airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, customs processes and technology platforms in different formats. ONE Record is IATA's common data model and secure web-API standard for sharing the information needed for one shipment across that ecosystem.
Key details
The standard creates a shared digital view of a shipment; it is not a new tracking app and it does not mean that every air-cargo movement has automatically become a legal requirement. Its operational value is reducing repeated manual re-entry, mismatched status data and fragile point-to-point integrations between partners.
What it means for logistics
IATA reports that more than 200 companies have participated in ONE Record pilots, implementation initiatives and working groups, with many moving toward operational use. For logistics teams, the immediate task is to make shipment master data accurate and ask each core partner how it plans to exchange it.
